This fundraiser for the BC Cancer Foundation was created in memory of a special loved one.
It is with profound sadness, we announce the tragic loss of our dear
Michael.
A devastating diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, complicated by a series of
strokes, robbed Michael of his life in mere days.
Michael, a bright light in any room, will undoubtably be remembered for his
wonderfully dry sense of humour, compassion, selflessness, loyalty, generosity,
and lifelong interest in people, and the world around him. Above all, Michael
valued family, and the many poignant relationships he formed, with his beloved
and significant friends, and colleagues, throughout his incredibly worthy life.
He was treasured and admired by many, and will continue to fill those hearts in
the same manner.
As Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Belkorp Industries Inc,
Michael was an integral fixture for more than 30 years within the organization.
He was a “class act” who was “highly respected by everyone in the Belkorp
world”.
Michael gave back to his community in many ways. Two notable activities were
serving as Director of Rogers/ Lantic Sugar from 2003 to present; and serving
as Director of BC Cancer Foundation (BCF) from 2014 to 2020, where he also
served as Chair of the Foundation’s Finance/ Audit Committee. He began his
commitment to BCF with the love of his family in mind, and carried on giving
his pledge of time to help others within the realm of cancer.
His dedication towards the fight against cancer was also strongly felt through
his years of donating to the Run for the Cure; and riding in The Tour de Cure
BC (Ride to Conquer Cancer) for many years.
He will be most dearly missed by his mom Marie, brothers John (Ana Maria),
David (Karen), sister Mary Anne (Brad) Pruner, and his beloved niece Hannah,
and nephews Matthew and Trevor Pruner.
There is no doubt, our earth is a much better place for having had the gift of
Michael.
He will forever be with us all.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request donations be made to the BC Cancer
Foundation.
